Accessibility for everyone
Education technology should enhance learning for everyone, regardless of ability or circumstance.
At Turnitin, we are committed to accessibility. As part of that commitment, we work toward ensuring that Turnitin’s products align with applicable web accessibility laws. In practice, we use 3rd party accessibility experts to evaluate our products against the WCAG 2.2 AA standard and we share their findings through our product VPATs.
Our Approach
Turnitin continues to develop our accessibility program and capabilities so that we are designing, developing, and testing our products for conformance to accessibility standards. We make accessibility a priority for our product, engineering, and design functions by assigning clear accessibility objectives and responsibilities, and our products are designed and built using an in-house design system, containing accessible, reusable, customizable components and patterns.
We engage in both internal and external accessibility evaluations and provide our conformance via a date-stamped VPAT, which is available on our website.
Measures to Support Accessibility
Turnitin takes the following measures to ensure the accessibility of our products:
- Make accessibility a priority for our product, engineering, and design functions by assigning clear accessibility objectives and responsibilities
- Design and build products using an in-house design system, containing accessible, reusable, customizable components and patterns
- Include assistive technology testing during quality assurance reviews. Some of the tools used to conduct accessibility testing include:
- NVDA and JAWS screen reader support on Windows for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge browser
- VoiceOver support on macOS for Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Edge browsers
- Keyboard accessibility support across supported browsers on Windows and macOS
- High contrast support across supported browsers on Windows and macOS
Turnitin products are tested using the latest operating systems, web browsers, and screen reader technologies referenced above.
