Turnitin Feedback Studio is now available as a Google Classroom add-on within Google Workspace for Education. It gives institutions a single access point for the tools needed to navigate AI in education with confidence, clarity, and integrity.

We heard from educators and institutions alike that a more seamless workflow experience would save time while offering new capabilities for the age of AI. The Turnitin and Google Workspace for Education integration is a meaningful step in helping educators access essential tools for responsible AI use in the classroom and support learning integrity.

The power of Google Classroom + Turnitin Feedback Studio

Google Classroom is where millions of educators and students work every day. It’s familiar, intuitive, and part of the broader Google for Education ecosystem. Now, Turnitin Feedback Studio sits directly within that environment—so there’s no switching between platforms, no duplicated admin, and no disruption to existing workflows.

How the integration saves time and extends capabilities:

  • Student lists and grades sync automatically between Turnitin Feedback Studio and Google Classroom, reducing manual admin and keeping everything in one place.
  • Educators gain access to the full suite of Turnitin Feedback Studio tools for feedback and grading within Google Classroom, including the Turnitin Originality and Turnitin Clarity add-ons.
  • A centralized teaching and learning experience for Google Classroom Assignments, with assignment submissions, feedback and grading all managed through Turnitin workflows embedded directly in Google Classroom LMS.

The result is a connected, simple, and powerful experience—one that delivers the AI and integrity features educators need without adding complexity.

Built for better learning: Google AI meets Turnitin expertise

The Google Classroom and Turnitin Feedback Studio integration combines specialized, purpose-built tools in service of future-ready learning.

According to Google, their LearnLM models are built around learning science and real classroom needs—AI designed not just to respond, but to make learning experiences more active, personal, and engaging.

Turnitin brings over 25 years’ expertise in student writing, feedback, and academic integrity— and since the rise of generative AI, innovative AI writing solutions for the education community.

Powerful AI in the classroom needs the right guardrails to elevate learning and avoid undermining students’ original and critical thinking. That's where Turnitin Clarity serves as a key differentiator in the integration and signals how we're approaching AI in education.

Turnitin Clarity provides a transparent composition space with an AI assistant with guardrails, designed to help students improve their writing and critical thinking while learning to use AI responsibly. It gives educators meaningful visibility into writing development—not just the final submission.

Educators using Clarity can:

  • View the entire writing process from start to finish in a dedicated student composition space with playback features.
  • Go beyond writing AI detection for context on how AI is used by students.
  • Integrate AI-powered tools into teaching to help learners use technology ethically.
  • Gain actionable data and reporting to inform fair, equitable grading and build educator-student trust.

Turnitin Clarity shifts the focus from policing AI to supporting responsible use, helping institutions refine pedagogy at a time when AI literacy is essential for graduate success. Through the new Google Workspace for Education add-on educators and students can access Turnitin Clarity’s powerful insights through their existing Google Classroom workflow.

Meeting the AI moment head-on

AI has changed how students write, think, and seek feedback. The question isn't whether institutions engage with this shift—it's how.

The scale of the shift is striking: from October 2025 to February 2026, approximately 15%1 of essay submissions to Turnitin products had greater than 80% AI-generated writing, up from an average of 3%2 in 2023.

Detection alone is no longer enough. We recognize that educators need tools that help guide responsible AI use, illuminate the writing process, and support the development of authentic student voice and cognition. The conversation needs to move beyond preventing misconduct to actively supporting how students learn with AI, with integrity at the core.

That’s exactly what this integration is designed to enable:

  • Skill development through structured, intentional AI use.
  • Critical thinking that is built, not bypassed.
  • Authentic student voice, preserved and valued.

Guiding responsible AI use in education is a commitment to safeguarding student outcomes. Educators are looking for ways to do right by their students in a world that keeps changing—and the reassurance that the tools around them are built with that same goal in mind.

How to get started

The Google Classroom and Turnitin Feedback Studio integration is available today, and it’s easy to get up and running:

1. Check your eligibility. The Turnitin integration is available to institutions using Google Classroom as their primary or secondary LMS, with:

    • an active Turnitin Feedback Studio license
    • and a Google Workspace for Education Plus license or the Teaching and Learning upgrade.

2. Enable the integration. To configure the integration, institutions can either follow the step-by-step Configuration Guide or book a call with a Turnitin Implementation Consultant for more guided support.

3. Access Turnitin within Google Classroom. Once enabled, instructors can create a Turnitin assignment within the Classroom tab by attaching the Turnitin add-on to a new Classroom assignment. This will open the relevant Turnitin assignment flow or assignment picker, based on the institution’s licensed features. From here, instructors can manage submissions, feedback, and grading through Turnitin workflows embedded in Google Classroom.

Supporting the next chapter of writing instruction

Education is evolving rapidly with AI and institutions need practical ways to harness AI’s potential responsibly, without compromising the outcomes that matter most.

The right tools can equip educators with the insight and structure to facilitate original thinking, authentic learning, and the skills students will carry beyond academia.

Turnitin Feedback Studio is now available within Google Classroom as a Google Workspace for Education add-on—giving institutions access to the tools needed to navigate AI in education with confidence, clarity, and integrity.

1 Turnitin found that an average of 14.8% of English language submissions to its latest version of the AI detection tool had 80% or more AI-generated writing between October 2025 and February 2026.

2 Between April and August 2023, Turnitin found an average of 3.3% of English language submissions to its original AI detection tool with 80% or more AI-generated writing.
