Citation checklist for students

Citation checklist | Student

This checklist allows students to self-monitor the inclusion of correct citation and referencing to accurately complete assignments.

This checklist focuses students on the questions they should ask about citation and referencing. The focus is placed on accuracy, incorporation, consistency, source quality, and academic integrity. Students are also encouraged to consider which citation managers (such as the Citation assistant or AI chat within Turnitin Clarity) are permitted to complete the assignment.

While educators often encourage and remind students of guidelines to follow so that they are upholding academic integrity in each phase of work, providing a checklist for students to self-monitor what is allowed and required for citation and referencing helps students to follow those guidelines, even when they are working without the educator being present.
