AI in Education Trends
Turnitin’s Learning Integrity Insights Reports
Turnitin’s Q3 Learning Integrity Insights Report looks at the qualitative and quantitative data from our work with educators, students, and institutions as we navigate this next chapter of learning integrity and develop an understanding of what responsible use of AI looks like in practice.
Our most recent report, looking at Q3 2026, revealed the following:
- A transparent composition space cuts outsourcing of the work to AI by almost half in the US, Australia and New Zealand: When students draft in a transparent and guided writing environment, like Turnitin Clarity, near-total outsourcing of the work to AI decreases by almost half in the US, Australia and New Zealand.
- Educators are adapting AI to support learning based on education level: Educators are tailoring student-facing AI tools based on education level, with higher education leaning slightly more toward quality assurance and secondary education showing a modest preference for collaborative writing support.
- Institutional AI policies can fall flat by the time they get to the classroom: While some institutions have established AI policies, research shows that to be effective, policies around AI use are far more effective when clearly communicated at the assignment/class level.
